At Bais Yisroel we recognize that a comprehensive Torah study program is a vital component of any community and crucial for meaningful personal growth on an individual level.

Shabbos

Over the course of Shabbos several learning opportunities are woven into the regular schedule (see below).  They are presented in a way that is easily understood by beginners yet engaging to even the seasoned Yeshiva educated learner.  On Shabbos afternoon bring your Chavrusa and join the Bais Medrash, filled with the beautiful sound of Chavrusas engaged in the time-honored traditional form of one-on-one Torah learning.

Hilchos Shabbos: On Friday night (between Kabolas Shabbos and Maariv) Rabbi Jacobs speaks for 10-15 minutes on a topic related to Hilchos Shabbos. He blends practical Halacha with background sources and underlying Halachic concepts in a way that is interesting as well as practical to our Shmiras Shabbos.

Mishna B’rura: On Shabbos afternoon during the Summer months Rabbi Jacobs gives a 45 minute text-based Shiur on the Mishna B’rura. Topics vary.

Pirkei Avos: During Shaleshudis we learn Pirkei Avos (year round).  Rabbi Jacobs offers powerful insights gleaned from the words of the great Meforshim of this Masechta, replete with gems of practical guidance for Avodas Hashem that stem from the Mishnayos themselves.

Sunday – Friday

During the week we partner with Merkaz Torah v’Chesed (located in the same facility) which offers a full schedule of Shiurim, learning groups and Chavrusas. Our Rav is intimately involved in the administration of Merkaz and delivers several of the Shiurim offered. For more information about Merkaz Torah v’Chesed please visit www.merkaztorah.org.

Daf Yomi

Rabbi Raphael Leban, managing director of The Jewish Experience, gives a daily Daf Yomi Shiur.  The Shiur takes place one hour before Shacharis, Sunday through Friday. On Shabbos the Shiur starts one hour prior to Shacharis or one hour prior to Mincha, depending on the time of year.

Women’s Learning

Twice a month join the Neshei Bais Yisroel for our “Ladies’ Night Out program”. Come and hear a Shiur that is inspiring, uplifting and informative.  Then stick around – nosh a little and shmooz a little!  It’s a great way to get out and see people and grow in the process. Each event alternates between video Shiurim from “Tiferes” (a project of the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation – membership to Tiferes required) and a speaker chosen from our local Denver talent, including Rabbi Tzvi Mordechai Feldheim and our own Rabbi Jacobs.

Avos Ubanim

Kehilas Bais Yisroel is proud to host the East side division of Denver Avos Ubanim (city wide Avos Ubanim is facilitated by Merkaz Torah v’Chesed).  During the Winter months fathers and sons learn together on Motzei Shabbos; during the Summer months on Shabbos afternoon.The boys enjoy raffles, prizes and nosh, but hands down, the learning is the main attraction!
